Senior Drywall & Finishing Technician Position with S&A Construction in Wichita, KS
Employee performs independent, semiskilled maintenance, and construction tasks or assist skilled workers in the performance of a larger job. The primary emphasis of the job is on the performance of a variety of tasks, which require general mechanical ability rather than a high degree of skill in any particular trade. Employee works independently without supervision.
Examples of Work Performed:
Employee is capable of performing skilled masking/containment, drywall hanging, drywall finishing, interior/exterior painting, various wall/ceiling textures including popcorn, knock down, and stomping, and staining finishing wood work and cabinets. Employee shall competently use all relevant machines to accomplish all of the above. These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.
Requirements of Work:
Drywall/Painter shall possess working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials used in construction and remodeling industry along with general knowledge of work hazards and ability to take necessary safety precautions.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in performing semiskilled building, mechanical, or construction. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other Departments, and representatives of other organizations. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
- Able to read and interpret technical manuals.
- Ability operate an airless paint sprayers.
- Competent knowledge and ability to install, prepare, and finish interior drywall including various texturing techniques.
- Competent understanding of preparation work, priming, painting, and staining interior and exterior elements.
- Competent knowledge and experience with cabinetry, wood work, and finish work in various finishes.
- Possess relevant drywall tools and drywall knives.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a valid KDHE lead safe work practices certificate within 30-days of employment.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a valid KDHE lead abatement worker license within 6-months of employment.
