Carpenter Assistant Job Position with S&A Construction in Wichita, KS

Employee performs independent, semiskilled maintenance, and construction tasks or assist skilled workers in the performance of a larger job. The primary emphasis of the job is on the performance of a variety of tasks, which require general mechanical ability rather than a high degree of skill in any particular trade. Employee works independently without supervision.

Examples of Work Performed:

Carpenter assistant is capable of performing skilled building construction, remodeling tasks, rough carpentry, plumbing work, dry wall, cement work, painting, and minor electrical repair work. These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements of Work:

Assistant shall possess working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials used in construction and remodeling industry along with general knowledge of work hazards and ability to take necessary safety precautions.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in performing semiskilled building, mechanical, or construction. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other Departments, and representatives of other organizations. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a valid KDHE lead safe work practices certificate within 30-days of employment.
• All general and tool requirements of S&A Construction, Inc. shall apply.
